Set across 14 floors and 27,000sqm by the iconic Sydney Harbour, Deloitte’s home in Quay Quarter Tower is a leading example of the shift away from the traditional workplace.

Built by MPA and designed by Hassell, we were engaged early to complete both the pre-construction and then construction elements of this fitout. A landmark project in a landmark building in Sydney’s CBD, we are extremely proud of the outcome we have achieved, over and above the client’s expectations.

From day one, our project team, partners and subcontractors, came together to deliver a space that reflects Deloitte’s prestigious brand and leading position in the market, and will leave a legacy for years to come.

Sitting on sacred Gadigal land, the connection of land to the country was of critical importance to the concept from the outset of this project, which closely aligns with our values at MPA. And to see this space come to life, with ESG at the heart, has been truly rewarding for everyone involved.

The construction program we designed brought to life Hassell’s ingenious workplace design that centres around innovation and ingenuity and draws on Deloitte’s local (Sydney) and global (international) presence. During the ECI and MC phases, we completed site validations to identify and mitigate risks and future cost risks; we began early orders where there were long lead times; and held design resolution meetings, bringing together trades in order for early prototyping and sampling to start.

Hassell’s vision for Deloitte’s new home in QQT was to create a space as iconic as its impressive Sydney Harbour and wider city surrounds, that speaks to Deloitte’s commitment to making an impact for their clients and an investment in developing its people.

Above all, it was to be a place where people connect and work seamlessly, empowered to deliver excellence. A place that instills confidence and pride where people can imagine the future and collaborate to create it.

The prestigious QQT building, which has received multiple awards, sets a new standard for sustainable building design given the adaptive, retrofit design retained 65% of the building’s existing structure and 98% of the original walls and core. It’s reported to have saved approximately 12,000 tonnes of embodied carbon. As the building sets new standards and adapts as it moves into the future, so too does the beautiful design Hassell concepted. A space that inspires people to make an impact on clients, community and environments, cultivates partnerships and builds connections, encourages diversity, showcases leadership, quality and integrity and nurtures the health, wellbeing and safety of all.

MPA are very proud to have been involved in this project and of the relationships strengthened between Deloitte, our team, partners, and subcontractors along the way.
