Liminal

MPA was appointed by the iconic T&G building’s owner Pembroke Real Estate to deliver the final component of the building's re-imagination.

Part cafe, part wine and produce store, Liminal is the latest offering by renowned cafe operators The Mulberry Group.

Liminal sets a new standard for commercial lobby utilisation and delivers an entirely new concept to Melbourne’s eclectic foodie scene.

Liminal’s brief was to merge the luxury of a high-end restaurant with a warm, inviting and comfortable dine-in and takeaway cafe to service the T&G buildings tenants while providing an exciting new dining venue for the city. Pembroke wanted to create an experience rather than just a place to eat.

Project drivers were to maintain the design intent of the recently refurbished lobby and protect the buildings tenants from noise and disruption during construction of the cafe and produce store.

Prominent design features include a grab and go/coffee and food section, long term lunchtime seating, communal and single tables, cold store and storeroom, and an extensive commercial kitchen.

The project also incorporated a private dining room, separated from the main area by a wine display refrigeration wall and a preparation/show kitchen.
