We believe that a lobby serves as the gateway to a building, setting the tone for everything that lies beyond.

Transforming 680 George Street - A new lobby experience

At 680 George Street, we collaborated with Brookfield and Arcadia, along with our partners Altus Group, Hames Sharley, NDY, Group DLA and TTW to reimagine the lobby into a dynamic, welcoming space that reflects the vibrant energy of Sydney’s World Square precinct.

This project was all about creating a first impression that marries functionality with visual impact. Despite the challenges of an operational setting, our team developed a tailored program to keep the space functional. Measures like full-height hoarding over 8 meters high, strategic housekeeping and consistent stakeholder communications kept disruption to a minimum while prioritising safety.

The upgrade has completely transformed the space and brought with it a new energy and buzz to the precinct. Key upgrades include:

  • Focusing on sustainability, all the existing stone columns were retained, with steel structures built to preserve them for future use and wrapped with timber panelling for a modern finish.

  • A redesigned concierge desk, relocated and reimagined in a contemporary style to improve flow.

  • An open seating area, inviting people to gather.

  • Natural materials and timber finishes, softening the space and enhancing natural light.

  • Additional features like collaboration pods and bespoke furniture pieces complete the transformation, making the lobby not just a passage but a destination.

Our longstanding relationship with Brookfield Properties and the base building contractors was instrumental in the seamless execution of this project. Together with a broader consultant team, we delivered high-quality finishes on time, exceeding expectations and setting a new benchmark for lobby design.
