680 George Street - Lobby

In collaboration with our partners Altus Group, Hames Sharley, NDY and TTW, we recently completed the revitalisation of the lobby at 680 George Street for Brookfield Properties and Arcadia Funds Management. 

Located within the bustling World Square precinct and given the live environment of this project, we employed several strategies – developed through our experience in similar lobby projects – to design a program so the space could continue to be used by all.

This included stringent housekeeping, extensive stakeholder communications with the precinct and full height hoarding spanning over eight metres in height to enable works to be completed safely without any disruption.  

The upgrade has completely transformed the space and brought with it a new energy and buzz to the precinct. The works included improving the flow through the space by relocating and replacing the concierge desk with a new and more contemporary style. The seating area was also opened up to make it more of a dynamic space where people want to meet and dwell. Additional natural materials were also introduced to soften the space and allow more natural light to flow through. 

The project also included the preservation of large, double-height stone columns whereby structural steel was encased around the curved stone columns and timber panelling was installed. Further add-ons include the new collaboration pods and feature furniture pieces. 

Our existing relationship with the Brookfield Properties site team and the base building contractors enabled our team to successfully coordinate works, minimise disruption and ensure the safety of visitors, tenants, building management and contractors.

Aligning our values around sustainability and giving back to the community around us, it was great that the old furniture could be donated to charity.
