Continuing our work with Thales, we were engaged to refurbish the mezzanine area of their current space in Docklands, predominantly occupied by the Thales OneSKY team.
The Thales OneSKY team required upgrades to their Customer Training Academy (CTA) to improve the training experience they can provide. The team converted what was once the gaming floor of the old casino, with 20 meter-high roof and overlooking balconies.
The overall project included the design and construction of seven training rooms, including a combination of existing and newly constructed rooms.
Freestanding timber framing was used rather than steel framing due to the air conditioning units to be installed in each training room. This, along with the open ceiling over the main thoroughfare, provide unique features of this build.
The complexity of the very high ceiling space within the mezzanine area was carefully considered by the team, particularly in relation to services and structural design.
It was essential for the new training facility to be fully operational by the end of April 2020. We were able to successfully deliver the project on time, continuing our strong relationship with Thales nationally.
